Notes from a hard workin' troll trying to feed his troll babies:

Usually what you see most on the auction house are things like Titanium, Saronite, Adder's Tounge, or Frostweave cloth. While these items may have a epic demand, their supply is very large making the profit and price drive down.

If we look at this concept in a economical way we see that Wrath materials have a huge supply, thus a competitive market on the wow auction house. More competition makes for lower prices and lower profit.

So, whats a troll to do?

Farm stuff that other people don't! Of course you will want to farm something that people still want to buy. We are shooting for high demand, low supply items folks. I find these items usually linger around in the classic areas. Like Thick leather, Thorium and Dreaming Glory, items like that, end game level 60 stuff that people don't farm anymore.

Why are these items in high demand?

because people are still making alt characters and leveling professions. And if you've ever leveled a profession between 250 and 300, you know it takes heaps of materials to make a few skill points.

Blizzard did make an overlap in the skill sets, lowering the max that it took to train the next set but it still requires a ton of mats to level.

What all the lack of supply?

Firstly, these end game classic wow materials are scarce. They don't spawn as frequently as say cobalt or Saronite or Wrath materials.

Secondly, most of the games farmers are in Northrend because that's were all the new action is, that's where the new materials are to make the newest items and gear, leaving Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms pretty bare as far as farmers.

Recommended Classica Farming Mats:

Dreaming Glory. 1g 86s each

Thick Leather.. 84s each

Thorium Bar 1g 58s each

Mithril. 4g 14s each!
